My first poem:
The sun glistening over me
I'm ready to be devoured, At last
This wind, set me free
My second poem:
A landscapper, hard at work
Providing fruits and veggies for us all
At last, Dinner is served!
Today's class was very personal for me. I've been going through a lot of internal self doubt lately, so this activity provided me with a quiet time to just think. Don't worry, it is definitely not school related as this BEd program has been the best thing to happen for me this year. It was also refreshing to revisit my sit spot and connect with the new fruits and vegetables that has blossomed beautifully over the few weeks.
This activity was a great way to use the environment around us, in order to help curate a personal poem. In a high school class setting, this activity wouldn't have been treated the same. I mean, the 'takehome' message from these two learning environments have a high probability of being different. The take home message from this activity, while being in the Orchard Garden, is that every student has an interesting perspective that should be heard. Susan's activity today created an opportunity for students to use art, music and/or other outside influences to produce a thoughtful poem.
Based on this week's reading, the importance of language and how it moves and connects with people is another 'ahh haa' moment for me. It was a great way to hear my fellow classmates artistic abilities and see their process of translation: guiding their thought process into creating an actual poem.
